The Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force launched the “Investigation and Prosecution in the Field of Combating the Financing of Proliferation” Workshop this morning in cooperation with German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) ,and a participation of EOCN experts from UAE and TFS experts from member countries, with the generous hosting of the State of Qatar and the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism in Doha. The workshop aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the financing of proliferation and its mechanisms, and to understand, identify and assess risks, in addition to providing insights into the international legal framework governing the financing of proliferation, including UN resolutions and FATF recommendations, which will facilitate practical experience for participants, and introduce advanced analytical techniques to effectively investigate the financing of proliferation. The workshop will invite participants to work collectively on practical case study exercises to and exchange experiences while identifying best practices between participants.
