Ms. Samya Abou Sharif, MENAFATF President participated in the opening session of the 2025 Annual Summit of the Global Coalition to Fight Financial Crime (GCFFC), which was held at Abu Dhabi Global Market on 10–11 September. The summit convened over 200 global leaders and experts to advance collaborative efforts in combating financial crime. MENAFATF Vice President, Mr. Hamid Alzaabi, participated in the summit, while Executive Secretary, Mr. Suliman Aljabrin, contributed to a panel discussion addressing emerging financial crime trends in the MENA region, the region’s strategic priorities, and effective approaches to implementing FATF standards.

In her remarks delivered via pre-recorded video message, she emphasized that meaningful progress in AML/CFT requires clear leadership, shared vision, and genuine commitment across all stakeholders. Ms. Abou Sharif also highlighted the vital role of MENAFATF in supporting regional and global efforts to combat financial crime. Through fostering cooperation among member states, facilitating technical dialogue, and advancing policy development aligned with international standards, MENAFATF contributes to building a more transparent and robust financial environment.

She pointed out that such achievements are only possible through collective action and international solidarity. Combating financial crime requires unity, mutual trust, and shared expertise—working together to build trustworthy, more resilient financial systems for all.
